Writing for TV/Film/Theater

I write book and lyrics for musicals, as well as songs and scripts for TV & film. (That’s a picture of me below, seemingly lounging in a black void. As one does.) Most recently I returned, with my frequent collaborator Curtis Moore, for the fifth and final season of writing original songs for the Amazon Prime hit, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. We received our third consecutive Emmy Nomination and won the 2023 World Soundtrack Award Best Original Song (the first time a TV composition has ever won this award) for “Your Personal Trash Man Can,” as featured on the Music of Season Five album and in the video below. I am also the winner of a prestigious Fred Ebb Award for “excellence in musical theatre songwriting,” as well as recipient of a Jonathan Larson Grant from the American Theatre Wing.

Theater works include Triangle (winner of 6 Theatre Bay Area Awards as the “Outstanding World Premiere Musical”), The Legend of Stagecoach Mary (NAMT Festival of New Musicals) and The Bus to Buenos Aires (Ensemble Studio Theatre, NYC). I am currently writing book and lyrics on multiple new pieces including stage musicals for Universal Theatrical Group and Michael Cassel Group. If you would like sheet music for any of my work with Curtis, head over to MizerandMoore.com.

But since you’re already here, feel free to scroll down and check out a few of my favorite recordings and videos. And if you’re looking for a “words person,” just ask; I love exploring and learning with new collaborators.

When Mrs. Maisel is forced to appear in an industrial musical titled Private Waste Management: A Musical Journey in Three Acts, this is the “trashy” opening number.

An inside look at the first time the original cast of Triangle sang through the show with the orchestra, featuring the debut of one of my favorite songs from the show “Take My Hand.” The best day.

For the final season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, we had a “Song Salon” featuring some of our favorite musical moments and performers from the series—all accompanied on Cole Porter’s piano!
